Purpose of Position

Support, through software design and development experience, DI's mission of providing engineering services and consulting in human-system integration (HIS), usability engineering, training systems design and evaluation, and next generation HISI research by utilizing established software development frameworks and techniques.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, design, programming, testing, debugging, and modifications of computer programs and hardware devices for complex software products.
  • Aid in software development, feature specification, and design.
  • Translate user needs into detailed design specifications; provide prototype and end-user applications and enhancement based on specifications.
  • Provide detailed, reusable product documentation.
  • Provide responsive, accurate, and friendly technical support to internal and external clients.
  • Manage risk by identifying, quantifying and monitoring potential threats to the project or development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to early identification of project issues and opportunities for product improvement.
  • Participate in proposal development.

Other Responsibilities

  • Promote products and services at various customer locations and functions.
  • Perform or assist with any assignments as required.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering and 6+ years of related experience.

  • Requires skills in complete software development lifecycle; developing software in a DevOps environment using Agile methodologies
  • Requires strong background in object-oriented Design; experience in back end; Node, ASP.NET Core
  • Requires experience architecting software systems for web
  • Requires experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployments
  • Requires full stack web development experience
  • Requires extensive C, C# and/or Java, and C++ programming experience on Windows based systems
  • Requires knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework
  • Requires proficiency with GUI design and development
  • Requires Microsoft Visual Studio experience
  • Requires knowledge of hardware design, testing, and debugging
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Requires ability to express ideas clearly and logically
  • Requires good interpersonal skills, including ability to adapt and work effectively in a variety of configurations independently, as a member of a team, and in a matrix reporting environment
  • Requires ability to prioritize tasks, show considerable initiative, resolve conflicts and handle complaints
  • Requires ability to work as a team member
  • Requires excellent planning and organizational skills

Travel

Position requires a minimum amount of local, overnight and extended travel.

Physical Functions/Environment:

Physical requirements involve performing general office activities.
